Look first DAAD.de, a public institution. Study fees are not very high in German, aprox 1.000 -1.600 Euro / year. In some states it is free. If you can read German: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Studiengeb%C3%BChren_in_Deutschland In Germany there is no ranking list-fever like it is in US because the are sponsored by government. Study subject Elektrotechnik (= Electronics) ranking from a German newspaper: Unsiversities of Aachen Darmstadt Munich Karlsruhe Dresden Stuttgart Berlin Illmenau Hamburg-Harburg Braunschweig Kaiserslautern

check out www.planeteducation.info/. It is in almost all major cities provides all information on study abroad, career counselling, entrance exams preparation like GRE, CAT, CET, GMAT, XAT, SAT, IELTS. It is an excellent counselling organization with very friendly staff.

NO you are a STUDENT you do not have a job - and you do not have any status as a worker. Taxes are irrelevent. your visa says you are a student, NOT a worker. most countries have a rule that you MUST RETURN home after you graduate, and then reapply from your home country to immigrate to back to the country you studied in.

Getting a student visa in Germany?

Getting a student visa in Germany?
I'm stuck in Germany for the moment, and would like to get a student visa to remain so. Does anybody know if they check your bank account for a student visa? The work situation being what it is (around the entire globe, apparently) a student visa is my last option to stay here. Any ideas on how difficult it is to get one?

First of all to apply for a student visa has to be done from your home country and yes they do check your bank account and you have to provide proof of enough German skills to be able to follow courses held in German. Short answer a student visa is NO option to stay in Germany once you are in Germany already.

if you want to go all the way to Germany just to learn the language might as well take it here. go to a community college or take some class and learn the language it will be the same thing nothing will be changed and you will save yourself a lot of money than buying the student visa and the plane ticket

Just apply for a student visa at a high school or college depending on your age. You don't have to know German to study there. Most people who go there is to study and learn German at the same time.
